Joan Beaumont has won the 2015 Asher Literary Award for her book Broken Nation. The Asher Literary Award is awarded every two years to a female author whose work has an anti-war theme.
Beaumont was awarded a prize of $12,000 at an event in Sydney on 8 December, hosted by the Australian Society of Authors (ASA). Broken Nation has been shortlisted for numerous other prizes and was a joint winner of the Prime Minister’s Literary Award for History, as well as winning the NSW Premier’s Australian History Prize.
