The Australian Booksellers Association has announced Melissa Ashley’s novel The Birdman’s Wife (Affirm) as the winner of the (ABA) Booksellers Choice Award at the 2017 ABA conference awards in Melbourne. Ashley’s novel was chosen from a shortlist of six. The Booksellers Choice Award recognises Australian new-release titles that booksellers most enjoyed reading, marketing and bookselling during the past year.
The Bookseller and Young Bookseller of the Year awards were also announced. Sarah Deasy from Avid Reader was named Young Bookseller of the Year; and Catherine Schulz from Fullers Bookshop was named Bookseller of the Year. Athina Clarke from Readings was awarded the Elizabeth Riley Fellowship for Children’s Bookselling.
