A new literary prize worth $20,000 for an unpublished manuscript has been announced by Penguin Random House (PRH) Australia to mark the formation of the publisher’s new literary division. The inaugural literary Prize is open to all Australian residents aged 18 and above, with entrants asked to provide a synopsis, pitch document and full manuscript.
Officially launched at the Leading Edge Books Roadshow in Sydney on 17 July, this prize endeavours to find, nurture and develop new Australian authors writing in the areas of literary fiction and non-fiction, and celebrates the recent formation of the Penguin Random House Literary Division.
Publishing director Ben Ball of PRH Literary said the publisher will work with Leading Edge Books as judges. ‘This prize offers aspiring and diverse writers from all across the country a chance to connect with people who can celebrate their work. I know we’ll be starting the careers of this country’s future stars.’
