AI technology can also be used to curate and streamline the editing and revision process, so that both authors and editors have to spend less time on mundane tasks such as formatting and spellchecking, and can instead focus on substance and creativity through the developmental process. In addition, artificial intelligence, through machine learning, can analyze manuscripts and make suggestions for improvement. This means that authors and editors can spend less time on rewrite requests and concentrate on the core ideas and elements of the manuscript.

This also allows authors to review feedback from AI and make updates before they present their manuscripts to an editor. AI systems can help to assess the potential of manuscripts to succeed in the publishing world by providing editors with feedback on writing style, marketability, and other criteria but are highly unlikely to replace book editors any time soon.
