Here’s what some of our authors had to say.. - Margaret D. To cut a long story short. Could you improve the story and if so what would it cost me to do so. I'm thinking that a bit of tweaking will help the story tremendously. Margaret - Margaret D.Read Moreread less - Elizabeth S. Thanks very much for this. I will work on the recommendations, especially to speed up/improve the beginning. I’m feeling a little more hopeful about the story overall. Best regards, Elizabeth. - Elizabeth S.Read Moreread less - Graham W. I have read your feedback. It said what I thought it would and more. I am again exited about the novel and will delve in again in December for the second go, with your notes in mind. I have a lot of story written in history of the characters, I will now blend the two to make a much more whole story-line You mentioned editing, which I think is gonna be a necessity. Is this genre something you can do? I will finish off the 2nd draft and maybe treat myself to an editor. Once again thanks for the feedback and the well thought out explanations. Graham. - Graham W.Read Moreread less - Tony M. I wasn't expecting your email for another couple of weeks. What a pleasant surprise. I've yet to read the reports but I look forward to it. Thanks also for the developmental editing suggestion. Are we talking like a mentoring role? Either way, I might actually take you up on that as I've been looking for such 'guidance'. [...] Anyway, I'll get on to these reports and will be in touch. Oh, and it's still my intention (in the distant future) to seek a manuscript assessment. But, first things first. Thanks very much. Tony. - Tony M.Read Moreread less - Mitchell L. just wanted to thank you for your feedback when reading Last Man’s Last Stand. I found your feedback very fair and helpful. I especially appreciated all the examples you gave me in the notes sections. I am a new writer and I found those examples to be very helpful when studying how to improve my writing. I just wanted to write this up to show you my appreciation. Thank you. Mitch. - Mitchell L.Read Moreread less - Stephenos M. Hi Declan, First and foremost, thank you for the quick prompt service to my story collection, Human Being Human Doing. I will look at this over the next few days and email you with any explanation that may be required. Thanks once again; stay well and all the best. - David R.Read Moreread less - Tina H. Thanks Declan for your thorough breakdown of my book. Yours is the first feedback that is constructive. Friends and family are always a little too enthused and not always honest with their feedback. I will take your thoughts into consideration as I rework some of the chapters. Thanks so much for beta reading my book! Thanks, Tina. - Tina H.Read Moreread less - Jason U. Please thank the sensitivity reader for me. The comments are very helpful! - Jason U.Read Moreread less - Jenni J. You are currently my new favourite person after saying such positive things about my writing. I was quite taken aback with your appreciation of ‘Boundary Lines’. I’m really pleased you enjoyed reading it and were able to connect with it on a personal level. Thank you for your comments and editing. I look forward to playing around with the passages you highlighted. All of your comments are valued by me. Your honest and personal response really touched me and perfectly explains why you did not make an initial comment on the assessment regarding this passage of writing. Thank you for clarifying this. Although unsettling, my heart desires to create hope for the reader – a thought you did express in the initial manuscript assessment - so thank you! - Jenni J.Read Moreread less - Jodi L. I just read your comments and am feeling deeply grateful. You've given me a new confidence that the subtleties I was hoping to convey are coming through to a caring and thoughtful reader. I will certainly work on the few words you suggested reconsidering. One one of them ("knacker") I was wondering about myself ... whether it had too many other meanings to be clear in that context. Indeed I struggled with hating to use the language of the era, but knowing it was how the characters would speak. I am glad you felt that was a reasonable choice. Also, as this was a new epilogue (after several tries that weren't working all that well), I am quite grateful that you've given it a stamp of approval. I do feel that I'm finally ready to send this book to agents... to let it out of my own little world. It's been a very long road of discovering this challenging craft, and readers like you make it worth it. Many thanks to you, and I quite expect I'll get back in touch for the next one. Rinse and repeat.... that's a writing life! - Jodi L.Read Moreread less - Mark R. Just back from being out of town and opened your beta read at the airport. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Will be getting into your feedback now and using it to make the book a better read. Sincerely, Mark - Mark R.Read Moreread less - Jodi D. Thank you for the report. Both readers finished commenting around page 200 - I understand one beta reader totally disliked the manuscript, hence not finishing it but was that the same for the second beta reader? I only ask, in case my Word document stopped displaying the comment boxes. Jodi. - Jodi D.Read Moreread less - Chris How fast you work! Thank you for your beta-reading and yes, your revisions. I feel privileged. Your comments are quite encouraging. In light of what you have written, I will only send you the completed work. It will take a few months. Your feedback tells me this: 1. I am in the right direction, the pace is well set, my English grammar and style are adequate, but will need to be revised by a professional. 2. The story summary is enticing. 3. Judging the first chapter, the book has good marketing potential. All that galvanizes me. If I got it wrong, by all means, tell me. I am looking forward to contacting you when the first draft of the Great Inversion will be tweaked and ready, but not professionally revised. Most cordially, Chris. - ChrisRead Moreread less - Chris J. Thanks Declan. There is a lot of work to do. I am not looking to become a professional writer, I just have a story I want to tell. Thanks so much for the report. Regards, Chris. - Chris J.Read Moreread less - Maia F. Thank you so much, Declan. I’m actually going to submit the manuscript (after editing and polishing as much as possible) to a contest. Then, I’ll see what feedback I get and will go from there. I’m not sure if it’ll be a traditionally-published novel or I’ll self-publish it, but either way…it’ll happen 😊. I really appreciate your help. - Maia F.Read Moreread less load more Through working with Writerful Books, authors have reported satisfaction and success with their writing projects, improved confidence in their writing skills, and an overall feeling of accomplishment in their creative efforts.
