Here’s what some of our authors had to say.. - Renae M. Thank-you so much! This report will be so helpful in rewrites. Do you offer a re-read service when my edits are finished. I love the fact that I get an unbiased opinion and feedback! Thanks again! Renae Mercado - Renae M.Read Moreread less - Tony M. I wasn't expecting your email for another couple of weeks. What a pleasant surprise. I've yet to read the reports but I look forward to it. Thanks also for the developmental editing suggestion. Are we talking like a mentoring role? Either way, I might actually take you up on that as I've been looking for such 'guidance'. [...] Anyway, I'll get on to these reports and will be in touch. Oh, and it's still my intention (in the distant future) to seek a manuscript assessment. But, first things first. Thanks very much. Tony. - Tony M.Read Moreread less - Catherine C. Thanks so much. Those are brilliant suggestions. Catherine C - Catherine C.Read Moreread less - Terry M. Very helpful, I'll read through your edits a few times and may step into Gus' shoes as you suggest and try the three act - although I have possible further incursions in mind for a second book, if I ever write one. Wish me luck, it was all OK when I was writing for family and friends and children's books for grandchildren - who will be gentle with feedback - and when I made the foray into a novel I knew I was not well positioned - I really did write it for a circle of people who would be used to and appreciated my sense of humour and 'who cares about structure' etc. But I will move outside that circle and rewrite. You have been helpful in giving me that kick. Regards, Terry. - Terry M.Read Moreread less - Denise N. Thank you for my Evaluation. I was quite excited and nervous to read the feedback. Your feedback was really great. I do understand what you are saying. My biggest thing I did get from the feedback was, I am obviously not getting my message across about the most important topic of all, which is, negative money thoughts, all to do with the mind. It is not about, financial security, independence etc it is about looking at your money thoughts and language. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear from you, if not, thank you again. - Denise N.Read Moreread less - Catherine C. Thanks so much Declan. I’m going to make a few modifications now thanks to your suggestions. Great thanks so much! As you say good writing is rewriting, and as I re-read the rest of the manuscript I am struck with how many glaring holes there are and how many (lots!) opportunities for improvement! So, I think I will continue to work on it before I send the rest of it to you. Thanks for the feedback. I felt my writing had improved, so its nice to know I am not delusional. BTW, this is a completely new story, with the previous 2 manuscripts as only back story. Thanks so much. It is a very well written, comprehensive report. I’m very impressed with the quality. There are some helpful suggestions for improvement and the summary of characters and plot is spot on. [...] Thanks again for such an in-depth report, I know that was beyond the realm of a beta read, so I really appreciate it! Catherine Craig. - Catherine C.Read Moreread less - Lulu K. Thank you so much for the report and for all your observations within it. Having this professional guidance is what I have been yearning for since I started writing the book. I am an early school leaver and also suffer from dyslexia so I knew there would be many grammar mistakes as well restructuring to be done. I sometimes overwrite things as what I am trying to express gets tied up in my mind in knots of confusion. - Lulu K.Read Moreread less - Grant E. This is a very flattering and super helpful review!! I can’t thank you enough. I just forwarded it two friends writing books, recommending they get in touch with you for beta reads too. - Grant E.Read Moreread less - Kevin O. I was clearly led to the right Irishman to beta read the book: what with a daughter with Iona in her name, a Jamaican connection and a knowledge of that part of Irish history, who better? I really appreciate all of the details that you replied with, it's very helpful. I mentioned that I have two endings and would love your opinion on them. I have attached a new file. This is actually the first ending. The one you read was the new alternate. This version begins at chapter 53. Thanks for doing this. I'm really curious to hear what your thoughts are. I am just beginning the agent query process.. - Kevin O.Read Moreread less - Tina H. Thanks Declan for your thorough breakdown of my book. Yours is the first feedback that is constructive. Friends and family are always a little too enthused and not always honest with their feedback. I will take your thoughts into consideration as I rework some of the chapters. Thanks so much for beta reading my book! Thanks, Tina. - Tina H.Read Moreread less Thanks for the good advice. I’ll keep working on it. Read Moreread less - Frank Thank you for your report by Carrie. Please pass on my thanks to her also, particularly for her involvement in the story. I have made some changes in accordance with Carrie's recommendations. [...] Well Declan I guess it is time to test the publishers. I am still deliberating on whether to use a Literary Agent or just go direct to Publishers. Any ideas on this would be gratefully received. All the best, Frank. - FrankRead Moreread less - Tammy A. Thanks for sending it through. Some great feedback. I'm slowly working through your suggested edits.. - Tammy A.Read Moreread less - Danielle B. Thank you so much for your detailed responses to all of my specific questions and also your general feedback! This all helps SO much. The two most important things I took from your feedback was that 1.)[...] I just thought of some scenes/ideas of how I can do this so now I just have to write them out and see which ones work best 🤞 2.) There needs to be a stronger hook in the first chapter. I can see now that where I started the story probably isn't the best place to start it. And 3.) there definitely needs to be downtime between the intense scenes. Someone actually suggested this to me before but I was wary because I was afraid of slowing down the story and boring the reader but I think I just have to figure out a balance. [...] Best, Danielle Brown - Danielle B.Read Moreread less - Allison D. Thanks very much, Declan—impressively speedy! I’ve passed your report on to the editor. Allison Draper - HarperCollins - Allison D.Read Moreread less - Maria G. Thank you very much for this. I find it quite helpful, and instructive. Especially the bias, it was definitely not intended. I simply did not realise it. Neither my editors. So, I will work some more on the story, and will take on board all the other raised questions. - Maria G.Read Moreread less load more Through working with Writerful Books, authors have reported satisfaction and success with their writing projects, improved confidence in their writing skills, and an overall feeling of accomplishment in their creative efforts.
