WRITERFUL BOOKS

Our Mission

Writerful Books' mission: purposeful, powerful, published Christian fiction and self-help, edited and represented with conviction since 2012.

I believe stories carry weight, and that the right ones, written and shaped with real conviction, can still change a life.

Writerful Books exists to serve Christian writers of fiction and self-help who want their work to reach readers with both craft and truth, and I take on only the manuscripts I genuinely believe in, because my name goes on every book I help bring into the world.

In an age when a machine can polish any sentence, I offer what it cannot: discernment shaped by faith, and an honest opinion about whether a story is ready and whether it’s needed.

My aim is to grow Writerful Books beyond its origins as an editing and agenting service into a fully independent publisher of Christian fiction and non-fiction, one that earns its reputation not through the size of its catalogue, but through the integrity, craftsmanship, and conviction behind every single title it publishes.

What This Means in Practice

A mission statement is only worth as much as the decisions behind it, so here’s what it actually looks like day to day.

I read everything myself. Every manuscript that comes through Writerful Books gets my personal attention before any decision is made about representation or editing. This isn’t a business run on volume, and it never will be.

I say no more often than I say yes. If a manuscript isn’t ready, or isn’t the right fit for what Writerful Books does, I’ll say so plainly rather than take on work I don’t believe in. A harder no now is a kinder outcome than a false yes later.

I hold craft and faith to the same standard.

A Christian novel or self-help book still has to work as a piece of writing. Good intentions don’t excuse weak pacing, flat characters, or a message that isn’t earned. My job is to help writers close that gap, not paper over it.

I’m building toward something, not just servicing requests.

Every manuscript I take on, whether as editor or agent, is a step toward Writerful Books becoming a genuine independent publisher of Christian books, purposeful in what it takes on, powerful in how it’s crafted, and published with the same care from the first page to the last.

Why This Matters Now

Publishing is changing quickly, and much of that change is being driven by tools that can generate competent prose in seconds. That’s simply the reality of the industry in 2026. What hasn’t changed, and what technology can’t replace, is discernment: the ability to read a manuscript and know whether it’s honest, whether it’s good, and whether it says something true. That’s the standard I hold every project to, and it’s the reason Writerful Books exists in its current form.

Where We’re Headed

Writerful Books has worked with authors since 2012. The next chapter is a narrower, more deliberate one: a home for Christian fiction and self-help writers who want an editor and literary agent invested enough in their work to say honestly whether it’s ready, and a publisher building a small, meaningful list rather than a large, generic one.

Purposeful. Powerful. Published.

Writerful Books provides a professional manuscript assessment service for authors seeking to hire an editor for an honest and insightful manuscript appraisal.
